    Bio

Dr. Spencer is an emergency medicine physician and an Associate Professor of the Practice of Health Services, Policy and Practice at Brown University School of Public Health. Local, national and global public health officials, media outlets and millions of viewers, listeners and followers turned to Dr. Spencer for reliable information from the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. He shares a unique perspective from the combination of his extensive field epidemiological work in Africa and Southeast Asia and his first-hand, frontline work in New York-Presbyterian's emergency department from the beginning of the  COVID-19 crisis. Dr. Spencer won an Emmy for writing and narrating an animated short produced by AJ+ in November, 2020, "A Day in the ER Battling COVID-19". He continues to dispel mis/disinformation on outlets such as CNN, BBC, MSNBC and pen guest essays in highly-regarded publications including New York Times, Washington Post and The Atlantic.
