Bio
Dr. Kass currently serves as Regional Director, Region 2, for the US Department of Health and Human Services. Previous to this appointment by President Biden, she practiced as an Emergency Medicine Physician for 18 years in New York City and was on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, contracting the disease herself in March, 2020. She was called on by municipal, state and federal governments to advise on the crisis response and quickly earned the trust of media outlets and millions of viewers, readers and followers for her no-nonsense messaging and empathetic, realistic assurances. Dr. Kass's impact has been and continues to be much broader as a tireless advocate, spearheading initiatives and campaigns promoting improvements to improve and protect lives and livelihoods such as gender equity in medicine and beyond, reforming failed policies and entities such as the organ donation system, and protecting kids in schools and camps.
