    Dr. Irène P. Mathieu is a bilingual (English/Spanish) primary care pediatrician at the University of Virginia, where she is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and an Assistant Director of the Program in Health Humanities. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Mathieu teaches medical students and residents, and she has conducted public health and equity research throughout the U.S. and Latin America. She serves on the steering committee of Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action. She is also the award-winning author of three poetry collections. Dr. Mathieu's creative and advocacy work has been featured on NPR, LA Times, Richmond Times-Dispatch, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and many other media outlets and publications.
